AWAC began as "Afghanistan Without a Clue" in August 2006 to chronicle my adventures on a one-year tour in Afghanistan. It also stands for "Atheist With A Calling," since I'm now a lay minister for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tullahoma, TN. And yes, I'm an atheist. Rather than create a seperate blog, the two will remain united as one. I'll post when the urge strikes, but mainly I keep the blog running as a resource for others going to Afghanistan or wondering about Unitarian Universalism. We often foster dogs until they are ready for adoption, so you'll see many dog photos. If you are new to AWAC, the best thing is to start from the beginning. Long and Painful

Just a quick note to let you all know that the AWAC staff is on the way home. I have camera in hand and will share all the gruesome details later. Rest assured, it hurts! There are no non-stops between Kabul and the US (There are hardly any non-stops between Kabul and anywhere). I am happily wandering around without a weapon or body armor, and life is good. Dany managed to beat us out of Phoenix, and he should be home by now. SSG Sawyer has another month, and she promises to write one more obscene amentity. More news to come. Stay tuned.

If my calculations are correct (shot in the dark) you all are somewhere over the Atlantic right now. Golly I hope that's correct.

YAY I'm so excited for all of you I've been reading your blog for about 2 months now and I think A*W*A*C is a great idea. I am so glad that your out of Kabul, and on your way home. You have all done such a great job out there. You guys rock :)
